Mark comes to Phytomed with a very strong track record of success in the senior leadership of some of ANZ’s large FMCG organisations. He is a fabulous addition to the team. Mark began his career at Colgate-Palmolive in Petone before moving overseas with them. He eventually joined Cadbury in Auckland and over 15 years moved through a number of strategic/marketing/GM roles before becoming Managing Director for Australia & New Zealand. More recently, he led Frucor NZ, one of NZ’s ‘Best Employers’.
Mark is very excited to be part of the Phytomed team; cementing Phytomed’s first 20 years, he is focused and enthusiastic about getting the organisation ready for the next 20!
Phil is an experienced Medical Herbalist with a busy clinic in Auckland where he has practiced since 1995. Before pursuing herbal medicine he worked for more than ten years as a pharmacist, and undertook research on antidepressant drugs and serotonin for a Masters degree in Pharmacology. He is a regular lecturer at several naturopathic and herbal colleges, presented at conferences in New Zealand, Australia and the UK, and written extensively on herbal subjects for both practitioner and consumer publications, for many years. Phil is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy at the University of Auckland, and was Deputy Chair of the Interim Expert Advisory Committee on Complementary & Alternative Medicines (IEACCAM), established by the Australian and New Zealand governments between 2006 and 2008.
Phil founded Phytomed Medicinal Herbs Ltd in 1998 to produce high quality, NZ-made herbal medicines for health practitioners, and in 2000 the Kiwiherb brand was launched as the retail offering of Phytomed Medicinal Herbs. As well as providing leadership & governance in the business, Phil is passionate about research and heads the New Product Development team, creating premium formulations based on traditional evidence validated by good science.
Earl joined the Phytomed team in June 2017. Earl has extensive experience in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Wholesale and Retail businesses. He has joined the Phytomed team to support the business through the next exciting stages and into the future. Earl has a Business Management degree from the University of Waikato.
Earl has a young family with 3 sons which keeps him busy. Born and bred in rural Waikato, he naturally brings the rural NZ can do attitude
Claire is passionate about sustainability, organics and good health. That passion, combined with her background in consumer brand marketing, advertising and sponsorship, led her to Phytomed in 2018 to look after marketing. Claire has spent a good part of her career working off-shore and is passionate about taking high-quality New Zealand made products and brands to the world.
When not marketing, Claire enjoys time with the family, snow-boarding, veggie-gardening and reading.
Nerena graduated from the University of Auckland in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Mathematics, and then followed her studies with Medical Herbalism and Naturopathic qualifications, in 1996. Since graduating, Nerena worked for 6 years as a Technical Consultant and Sales Representative for a highly respected Australasian supplement company. This enabled her to build wonderful relationships with practitioners and stores around New Zealand. She has also worked as a medical herbalist and naturopath in a clinic.
Quality Assurance Manager
Anne joined Phytomed in May 2016. Anne has previous experience in various QC and QA roles in the dairy industry and more recently Production Management in pharmaceutical manufacturing. She holds qualifications in Food Science, Quality Assurance and Business Administration.
Outside of work Anne enjoys the great outdoors, gardening, travel and spending time with friends and family.
Cindy started her career as a community pharmacist and later progressed into the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Over the past six years she began specialising in production management and joined Phytomed in 2018 as the Production Manager. Cindy graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from University of Auckland in 2009 and is a New Zealand Registered Pharmacist. Outside of work, Cindy is a keen baker and cook, she’s also a foodie who enjoys trying out different cuisines with her family and friends.
Kevin E Lin
Production Operations Manager
Kevin graduated in 1982 from School of Pharmacy, Shanghai Medical University (Pharmacy College of Fudan University) and was then employed as a Pharmaceutical Engineer at Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Industrial Research Institute. His work in the Institute focused on pharmaceutical technology and preparation research, and he was appointed as the General Manager of the Institute pharmaceutical manufactory for pretesting and production of different prescriptions developed by the Institute.
Kevin immigrated in New Zealand in 1995 and joined Phytomed in 1998 as the first employee of the company. He has been instrumental in the development of many of the Kiwiherb products and plays an integral part in the day-to-day operation of the business. In his current position he is in charge of the manufactory production of various Phytomed and Kiwiherb products, and is responsible for Research & Development activities associated with new product development.
Regulatory Affairs Manager
Trish is a highly experienced Pharmacist who joined Phytomed in 2002 after both hospital and industry experience, as the company’s first Quality Assurance Manager, ensuring that all manufacturing processes were performed to the required high quality. She lead the company to attain its first MedSafe Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Good Manufacturing Practice Licence in 2007. Trish left the business to manage and develop the Oncology Pharmacy Department at the Auckland City Hospital Department of Pharmacy. She returned to Phytomed in 2016 as the company’s first Regulatory Affairs Manager. In her current role she is responsible for regulatory activities in both domestic and export markets.
Trish has NZ qualifications in pharmacy, herbal medicine and quality assurance.
Australian Country & Territory Manager
Kelly joined Phytomed in July 2015 coming from a background of sales and training in the healthcare industry in Sydney, Australia. She is dedicated to providing a high level of support to retailers including training and education of the Phytomed/Kiwiherb products.
As a mother of 2 teenagers she has a keen interest in providing best health practice for her family and feels that consumers are embracing this philosophy worldwide. Kelly is delighted to join the team in Australia to continue the hard work that has been done there to establish the Kiwiherb brand
Territory Manager – Northland, Auckland South, Central, East
Jules graduated in 2003 with a degree in Health Science and a Diploma in Herbal Medicine from South Pacific College.
Over the last 15 years, Jules’ areas of work included working in health shops in Byron bay and Gold Coast. Working as a Territory Manager for Fitness Products QLD, and as a support worker at the Gold Coast drug council, helping young adults overcome addiction.
On returning to New Zealand, Jules worked with children, and is passionate about their health and well-being. Jules brings that passion in representing Phytomed and Kiwiherb.

Sherri has always had a fascination & love of plants & has used herbs for family health for many years. While raising her two sons, she commenced home studies in herbal medicine & ran a small business creating herbal crafts, eventually moving into nutritional/natural health. She worked in this industry for 8years before graduating as a Medical Herbalist in early 2011.
Sherri has experience in health store, pharmacy, herbal dispensary, her own clinic & for the last 6yrs as a territory manager for a well respected integrative medicine company. Sherri lives in the sunny Bay of Plenty, where she enjoys the beach & nearby native bush. She loves to read, cook, listen to music & is a keen gardener.
Sherri is proud to be a member of the team at Phytomed & Kiwiherb & excited about the future of herbal medicine in NZ. She looks forward to supporting stores & practitioners using Phytomed’s wonderful, ethical products in her region.
Customer Service & Business Support Manager
Frances comes to us from Auckland Transport leading a team of Customer Service Representatives through the phone and written channels dealing with a range of enquiries and feedback from AT Hop cards, bus, train and ferries and also Auckland Transport Asset feedback. She is also a living testimony of the power of herbal medicine. “It has been an exciting experience to join the Phytomed Family and learning new and interesting things. I’m looking forward to working with all our valued customers and hearing areas that we could develop to provide all our customers with an amazing experience all the time, every time.”
Territory Manager – Lower North Island, Upper South Island
Bryony graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 2004 with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing and Commercial Law. After travelling for two years she settled in Sydney working in sales and account management. In 2015 she won a scholarship to study Google’s Search Inside Yourself training and realized there was a better way to life. She relocated back to New Zealand and began a career in natural health. Outside of work Bryony enjoys spending time with friends and family as well as being a keen yogi, reader, writer and gardener.
Customer Service & Technical Officer
Fiona comes to us from Commonsense Organics Mt. Eden as their in-store Naturopath and brings a sales background in a variety of industries including the health sector. She graduated from South Pacific College of Natural Medicine in 2013 and has recently completed a yearlong apprenticeship in herbal cultivation and medicine manufacture at Phytofarm Learning Garden in Christchurch with renowned herbalist and naturopath Valmai Becker. Phytofarm is a medicinal plant farm dedicated to the growing and practical use of herbal medicine. Fiona uses these skills in her home clinic and garden in West Auckland.
Asia Sales & Marketing Manager
Ayla holds a Master’s Degree in Management (marketing specialisation) from the University of Auckland and a Master’s Degree in International Business from Northeast Normal University in China. Since graduating, Ayla joined Phytomed in June 2016 to help the development of Kiwiherb in the Asian market. With her language strengths in both English and Chinese, Ayla has contributed greatly to Kiwiherb’s growth in the Asian Market.
