Hear from others that have seen a Naturopath

Naturopaths are trained to assist clients holistically, which means assessing the person in full - taking into account their mind, body and emotions. If you’re wondering what it’s like, we’ve put together some individual experiences below:

My Naturopath takes a holistic approach to my health and wellbeing. She asks meaningful questions, listens carefully to my replies, and we discuss and agree approaches to improving and maintaining better sleep, and functional system health, including digestion and liver, as well as any other health concerns.

She tailors any treatments to suit me and my preferences about taking supplements. I would not be without these regular health check-ins, as it’s an important part of getting and staying healthy.

After struggling with many chronic gut and hormone health issues and my GP telling me there is not much you can do, and dietitians giving the same advice for the past 10 years, a friend suggested I see a Naturopath.

They look more holistically at your health and offered more advice over and above the standard responses I had been getting. After booking a introductory appointment (one and a half hours) with a registered Naturopath, Medical Herbalist and Registered Nutritionist, it changed my life. To have someone listen and understand me and tell me there was plenty that can be done to help with my long list of symptoms, I finally felt like I had found someone who could truly help.

After some blood tests, specific changes to my diet, and how and when I ate, key vitamins, and a tailored herbal formula, the changes in my health were so dramatic it was hard to believe. The changes I made were not complicated or expensive and I just wish more people knew how much Naturopath’s can help and empower you to take control of your health. There is always something you can do no matter what you are told.

I didn’t know what to expect when it was suggested that I see a naturopath, but after dealing with a few illnesses and feeling that I was getting nowhere I decided it to was time to get a different opinion.

I booked in with one that came highly recommended and went in for the initial consult. We spent an hour talking about me and everything going on in my life, from exercise to sleep, and work to social activities. Then we dove in a bit more around my health concerns and what I wanted to achieve.

The naturopath, was understanding and non-judgemental and asked questions that got me to open up a bit more and helped us together identify areas that I could make changes. At the end he got out his prescription pad, and wrote “holiday”. I looked at it a little blankly and laughed, but as we discussed it more, it became clear to me that I had overcommitted myself and had stopped looking after me and didn’t know how to take a break.

He also suggested a custom tonic that he was able to put together for me there and then. I’ve had a few follow up appointments, but the one thing that has always stuck with me is the prescription of a “holiday” and it reminds me on a regular basis to take time out for me.
